18m Starship (if you doubled all of it's dimensions and not just it's width) is getting near to the size of Enterprise's engineering hull. Unfortunately, unless propulsion and power supply technologies get really weird in the 2100s+ I don't think we're ever going to see a ship with the bizarre layout of Starfleet designs but with minimal orbital assembly we'll have ships of equivalent sizes or even larger.
