I am genuinely terrified that this place was giving degrees to these people. The majority of the class would fail every test. But the best story was in lecture one day:

Vacuum in the sense of space devoid of matter is not "nothing". Even disregarding vacuum fluctuations, dark energy, neutrinos, and other quantum physics phenomena; it still consists of 3 Cartesian dimensions and abides by physical laws (EX: if you were to put matter inside it, the mater would exert a gravitational force, etc).

However, if the OP is asking if "nothing" exists in the sense of the absence of anything, including physical laws, space time, etc, then obviously it does not. Such a state is not observable, and theoretically impossible in our universe. This also begs the question that if such a state was possible, why would we say such a state "exists"? This is an oxymoron by definition. This is just arguing semantics and the thought has no meaning or value to anyone who is scientifically minded.
