>You know how long speciation and niche relationships take? Clearly you do not. What we have now is irreplaceable, and we will die with the rest, if we do survive things will not get any better, its a long, lonely road to human extinction you are talking about. That would be a tragedy because as you pointed out we are the first life form in history capable of understanding what life is. There is alot to understand and I don't want to flush it down the toilet for the sake of cheap cell phones and wider roads, that isn't "progress" that is degeneracy.

Why is strict speciation absolutely necessary for Earth’s ecosystem to function when Humans have over the course of only 15 or so thousand years been able to use artificial selection to aggressively create multiple breeds of dogs which all still belong to the same species while developing unique physiological and behavioral features which differ more drastically and purposefully from each other than most organisms do that are of a different genus but the same family classification? And now we have the even more drastic ability to directly modify organisms genetic code at its source as is the case in GMO crops.

Speciation from natural selection isn’t necessarily important to keep the ecosystem functional anymore as humans can circumvent the trial and error process of evolution making countless fragile and failed species and skip straight to making long lasting and successful organisms?
