They're going to put pharmacists out of business within 15 years if their little union (or whatever) doesn't lobby congress to absolutely require a human be present to count pills.

This trend will spread to other industries.

I see so called "expert systems" being common place for most tasks and very unlike humans. Human-like robots will be necessary where the robots job is, literally, to be a human (e.g. child care, elderly care, other jobs in which emotional interaction is necessary for well being).

We have a long way to go, but advancing are coming rapidly. I'm excited. From an ecological prospective, an increase in robotics would mean an increased efficiency in the used of finite materials. This is awesome. I worry, though, that an increased human population and a greater demand for energy will result, which will further strain Earth's resources. I'm not sure of my solution to this problem as of yet.
