can i clear the record on this. writing algorithms is typical grad-student work. being the physics grad student who wrote the code to make the plot that demonstrated the existence of the higgs boson is not only below the tier of people you could credit for the higgs' discovery (take for instance pic related. i guarantee she didn't write the code for the higgs bump plot.), but they didn't even give the nobel to the experimentalists. they gave it to the theorists.
