How do you guys deal with this. I always want to skip lecture just to read because sitting there in class I drift off so hard.

I always pussy out in case there's something they do that isn't in the book. I mean what are you going to do, email them and say lecture sucks could you give me the theorem that wasn't in the text.

Hello /sci/, how can i prove that [math]f: \mathbb{C} _{\neq 0} \rightarrow \mathbb{S}^1 \times \mathbb{R}_{>0} [/math] defined as [math]f(z):=(\frac{z}{|z|},|z|)[/math] is an isomorphism?

It depends.
If you are looking for rigorous advanced math classes you won't learn much watching their videos.
If you are looking for little interesting "fun facts" about math, it's the perfect channel. The goal of Numberphile is to get the average layman interested in math and they are doing an amazing job.
Of course some autists on /sci/ will claim they are pseudo-pop-science, but again the goal of the channel is to get people interested so they are motivated to look further into math on their own.

I especially like the videos featuring James Grime. He has an own channel with a lot of interesting videos.

I've been following numberphile about the time Brady announced it as an anticipated project, was and still quite a fan of his channels. It's the only instance I know of mathematics to a mass audience.

As always with Brady's format he delievers it decently. It's not pop-sci (or pop-maths, if you insist otherwise) in the typical sense, where the pace of the video is largely pent up with music and flashy effects.

It more has that almost sort-of BBC documentary pace of just getting down to straight to the content and talking.

That skim over of Grandi's series was awful.
