Time to "aaaaahhhh"?

"Having now discovered Earth's outer core and upper atmosphere jets, researchers will be better equipped to predict what our magnetic field is going to do next, and that's important, because it looks like the North Pole is actually in the process of shifting as we speak."

How does science explain how some people become passionate about something?

Is it genetic? Is it environmental? Is it both? And can you learn to be passionate?

How could you identify the age of an online audience?

It gets really weird when there's no history of posting, because

1. Young people will lie about their age
2. They simply won't answer age-identifying questions, while the small percentage of adults might, skewing the results
3. Young people simply mirror the style and copy the answers of older people, passing the "turing test"

Can you figure out a method to identify the age distribution of an anonymous online group?

btw I'm probably only asking because I'm in denial about spending my time online with children and retards (90% of so, 10% real people, but still damaged in various ways).

p.s. had you judged my age from the picture I included, you'd probably think I'm also young/retarded, while in reality I only posted it for compatibility with the forum's image requirements and high contrast with the background.

So pain is a signal there to make sure we avoid harm to our body.

But then why are we uncomfortable studying? Why is procrastination a thing? How is work harming us?

>theorems are absolutely true given their axioms

Can someone tell me how we can have full ontological certainty that a mathematical proof is correct?

If all you had to do was have enough other mathematicians scrutinize your proof and check that the math is right, then doesn't it operate under the the same principles as science? You can't mathematically prove a thousand mathematicians haven't made logic mistakes. You can ony be something like 5 sigma certain.

Does this thing exist /g/?

I want a very cheap, new laptop with a good 15.6" monitor, x86 or x64.
That's it.
I can compromise to having absolutely no network connectivity and running windows 98 on a 250 MHz CPU.
I just want to write LaTeX and view PDFs.

Not necessary ancient, but maybe 200, 500 years old etc.

How important is it to learn algebra before calculus?

Like, is it really important to be able to master all those techniques, or can i just learn the algebra needed along the way?

I'm having trouble remembering every obscure way to find a parabola vertex, hyperbolic functions, etc shit. Should i just skip this and go straight to calc?
