Op, the Nazis tried to kill Jews and other "undesirables" with gas chambers and crematoriums when they had time to dick around.

The real way they got to killing millions was with their gassing trucks. This was the so-called "final solution". The trucks were regular shipping trucks rigged so the exhaust would pump into the back cabin. The undesirables would be led into the truck (easy to do because it looked innocent enough) they would be driven to the burial site while they suffocated in the back. At the burial site a bulldozer would be waiting with a large hole to bury them all. With enough trucks, fuel and holes they killed and disposed of millions.

This was a country wide program when finally implemented. It wasn't just occurring at a few camps.
