The people who are the angriest and most determined to prove others wrong have a tendency to improve the scientific community in the long run.

I know it sounds crazy, but when people like this fill the average joe with a sense of wonder.

Does science deserve a monopoly? Absolutely. But competition, even the imaginary kind, helps improve the overall quality of work. Hackers improve security systems. Creationists improve public understanding of evolution. And the neutrino incident got people curious about quantum mechanics.

In a very back asswards way, crazies fuel scientific interest within the public. I, for one, eagerly look forward to seeing what this guy is up to. I'll be damned if I don't learn a thing or two out of all of this.
