"Renewables" are a misnomer because in building and maintaining the infrastructure they irreversibly consume non-renewable resources.

The only thing that matters is the shape of the carrying capacity curve, which is a function of the extraction rate of resources, which is a function of population and EROEI. That said, you could probably take something like copper, known reserves, extraction rates combined with real world population data and get something very empirical.
