Why does crystal size decrease with increasing supersaturation? Do lower supersaturation levels allow more time for the minute crystal particles to come together to form larger crystals?

One can increase the size of crystals produced in a semi-batch reaction by:
1- decreasing reactant concentrations
2- increasing feeding time(i.e lowering feed-rate)
3-increasing agitation rate
4-increasing mixing intensity at the feed point.

But what might be some drawbacks to making these changes? Thanks if you can help!!
