I've come to the realization that even though I am in my second year of engineering I have no idea what raising something to a non-whole number is. Raising something to 2 is multiplying it by itself twice, raising it to 3 is multiplying it by itself thrice, but what is raising it to 2.5? Multiplying it by itself 2.5 times? Can someone explain what exactly raising something to 2.5 means?
