"Can't" and "won't" mean different things anon. Tesla had a Barnum and Bailey circus leader persona to try to interest investors. Tesla also lived in an age where engineering safety was viewed as a suggestion at best, but usually not considered at all.

He frequently did absurd experiments, which served no real purpose but to look cool for people with money so they would give him money to do more experiments. Most of these experiments are insanely dangerous and should anything go wrong, you and/or audience members will die entirely meaningless deaths.

Please try to make a glowing electric ham or something, instead of experimenting on yourself.

>tl;dr: Tesla was the electric equivalent Lewis Slotin. Luckily for Tesla, he never had his own screwdriver slipping in the Demon Core moment. Tesla's avoidance of public electrocution is largely down to good fortune.
