Why do scientists insist in using retarded terms when describing certain activities of inanimate objects.

Ex. "Probing a glowing bubble of gas and dust encircling a dying star".

>"a dying star" ?

WTF ?

One of the few people that I trully admire and respect.
Even more since he refused the european prize for mathematics because, and I quote, "the jury was not skilled enough to assess my work, even positively"

Those not saying Perelman should gtfo and wiki him as soon as possible.
I loved the fact that he refused a grand maths prize because the Committee was not skilled enough to grade his work, even positively.
Fucking badass

I never mentioned social behaviour when speaking about their eyes. I'm not implying that they're the ones coming up to you and engaging in conversation, because that's false (as a reminder most intelligent people are INTJ and therefore introverted). However you can see in their eyes that they're different from a normal lambda person. Look next time at the cashier who works in your local walmart (which is bound to be a woman in her mid-40s) and look at their eyes.

Another quick one
>Still last semester of my master in finance
>Have to take credits somewhere
>Allowed to enter a 1st year in actuarial science probability course
>Every assignment has been made last year and every one copies solutions
>I'm unaware of that and just work like a mule at home trying to solve them, failing half of them because they're tricky shit you have to see to understand
>Being the only finance guy in a class full of actuarials, they wonder wtf I'm doing there
>Last problem set has a new problem that nobody has the solution for
>I manage to crack it with some random book I found
>Picked at random to write down my solution in front of every one (we are graded on that)
>I get up, walk without saying one word to the board, start writing the solution as if it was obvious, turn around to see the teacher nod at me. I go back to my place, start reading an unrelated book about biology
>the faces of those present were a mixture of awe and humility

guy who mentioned Perelman first here. This guy refused the medal because he considered the academics in mathematics lacked ethics and integrity and by accepting the fields he would be de facto the proeminent figure of the field, which he didn't relate to , since he places integrity above all. This is why this man is my hero, he proved he wasn't bullshitting when refusing 1mio $ and continued living in his 1room appartment. Seriously, how can you not respect this man?

Can you imagine what kind of a fuck-up do you have to be not to collect that reward?

Self denial is one thing, but why would someone have such a strong shield towards life? He could have took the money and invested it in someone else. Was he afraid of leaving the comfort of being a perfectly self-sufficient shut-in? But why? Why would you refuse to interact with such a huge facet of existence? Why such stubborn egoism?
