I've never posted in this forum before, but I have an interesting dilemma/question.

I'm a 25 year old Computer Science major attending a community college, and I'm taking Calculus 2 (integration/sequences and series). Today some kids (3 freshmen?) actually confronted me after class and asked me to stop asking "random" questions. My questions generally consist of asking for justifications for certain things that aren't obvious to me, or hypotheticals that I use to reconstruct how a problem was done. Very rarely do they take more than 30 seconds or so to answer, and I ask maybe 3-5 in a 1 hour, 10 minute class, including questions from the previous night's homework.

My question is, am I the dick or are they the dicks? They were separated at the beginning of the semester for talking, and spend most of the lecture texting. I guess I'm asking for validation because I'm extremely insecure about asking questions because I don't want to seem stupid.

tl;dr Have any of you been insecure about asking questions in math/science courses because people become annoyed by it and made you feel stupid for having to ask?

How do you measure velocity when there's no reference points? If you're completely without references, does it make sense to say your velocity is in a superpositional state and will only actualize when a reference is given?
