>Many African countries already had an infrastructure left from colonial rule
Very limited because they only served to extract resources and to transport them to ports. Many infrastructure explicitly limited or forbade Africans using them.

>The problem is as soon as white people left, the Africans stopped taking care of it.
Because the infrastructure is extremely hard to maintain when your tax revenue is limited on top of that many infrastructure wasn't built for the needs and demand of nations so the their usage either

-could not handle higher usage rates
-ran in routes that fell out of relevancy.

Many infrastructure was already getting old by the time of independence so I don't think it would have been a good idea to use trains for the 1920's in say 2010.

>They looted and destroyed their own railways for example.
False as fuck. Many old rail lines are still used or were not destroyed. Please don't get your info from "Empire of Dust".

-If you are sick stay indoors.
-you can still contract it if you are near a sick person since sick people in general emit and aura if illness so to speak. Wearing masks doesn't make you suddenly immune to catching or spreading it. The longer you are near a person the higher the chances either person can spread it
-Pre-covid if you are sick visiting a person the hospital is a horrid idea since there's people who have weaker immune systems and staff getting sick. There's a reason hospitals are cleaned so intensely
-crowded areas are no good. Denser cities suffer more because there's less room to move or space out. Like Tokyo or NYC.
-if you work a job in contact with people you will have higher chance of getting it which is what afflicted many minorities in places like NYC who still had to work or lived in denser areas.
