No, taking a flight to the Bahamas every winter is not cleaning up your act. It doesn't matter how much cleaner your machines are if you use them 5x as much. The only "fair" way to balance this is to tax carbon emissions equally across the world. Then the holders of the most wealth will continue to pollute the most but at that point it will be a symptom of le capitalism and nothing else

If you want to continue to externalize dirty production to other countries then you can't count their emissions against them. This is an inbuilt feature of a global economy, "China" is not responsible for your purchase of high-emission materials because someone decided to make it there. We are the ones expending money and allocating capital with actual control over what gets made
