So I am currently reading through my introduction to EE script and it's basicly formula after formula after formula. How is one supposed to memorize them all? Do I even have to?

When you factor x^2 - 2x + 26 = 0 you get x = -2 and x = 13, right?

How come when you plug it into the quadratic equation you get 1 +- 5i ?

I am taking my math placement test, going for engineering, what are some equations, certain problem types, etc that I should look for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not understanding center of gravity and it's calculations, guys. I have my physics final on wednesday and I'm freaking out. Khan academy doesn't help much either. Does anyone have any good resources that takes difficult concepts and puts it in layman's terms? I don't know why I can't grasp CoG.

So, I think society needs religion

Why? Because...
-Religion gives people hope that their life isn't meaningless, while some scientific/atheist people lose themselves in thinking or trying to find reasons
-Believing in a God strays people from introspecting to much into the reasons of stuff
-Also, Religion gives the masses a prospect that stuff like Karma exists, that there is an Afterlife, that they will meet their loved ones someday, that they may be reincarnated, that life will exist forever (Because the universe was created by a God according to them, while some people (even me) get sad at the prospect that the universe has a 'expiration date', or that stars, galaxies, anything were life could be formed aren't bound to exist forever)

that feel when professors want a ridiculously detailed lab plan, but you've never used the equipment involved, or studied the physics involved. then give you straight E's marking your lab diary, because they don't understand the program you wrote to do statistical error on your results.

I've got a serious question here.

How do you guys study with high retention? I want the most effective way.

I usually just read things and try to memorize them by repeating them in my head. This isn't really effective sometimes.

I rarely come here, but here's a fitting question for you people of /sci/

If the higgs boson is found and analysed in thorough detail, will this enable us to make massless objects by removing the higgs field?

In turn this would make us able to travel at the speed of light if applied to a space ship. Am I full retard or is this a genuine possibility?

Hello /sci/

I want to ask you guys something.

I consider myself to be a person for whom logic is an important part of life and a rational approach to problems is usually the only one i am capable of.
I find that i lack creativity and i am usually unable to solve problems to whose im not capable of devising a step by step model of solution. I lack impulsiveness and spontaneity, which is why I mostly fail at social interaction especially getting a girlfriend.
Tell me sci-- Am i doomed to forever be a robot? Or can i do something to help me develop creativity?

TLDR: Not creative, can i become creative?

Ok I quit /sci/ I figured some people on here had atleast a slight knowledge of astronomy but this thread has confirmed for me people are either stupid or just trolls.

Super novae do not happen every 4000 years, super novae visible from earth do not happen once every 4000 years.

Fuck you all

I was studying for an exam, and I discovered a problem I hope you can solve.
1)studying an AC circuit, put a 1H inductor in parallel with a 1C capacitor. Set the angular frequency to 1
2) the impedance of the inductor is i, and the impedance of the capacitor is -1
3) the total impedance should be Z1*Z2/(Z1+Z2), in this case -i*i/(i-i)=1/0
4)my exam is Tuesday
