Honestly I would do neither because it is like paying into a form of taxes however I would go with the computer as the chance that if my algorithm was simple, someone already thought of it.

How would /sci/ formulate a solution?

If you don't care about freedom but want your code to be free, go ahead use BSD.

If they're being forced to use GPL, they're using GPL code which means it isn't their code.
