I have come to the revelation that fixing something in the past would break time.

Here's the scenario:
You are extremely guilty about something you did. For example, you could have accidentally caused someone's death. You build a time machine to stop what had happened in the past. You travel to the past. You see yourself accidentally putting someone in danger. Let's say you've damaged someone's equipment and this had caused their death when they used it. You manage to save the person by fixing or buying the same equipment you damaged. You're not guilty anymore. But there is a catch...

By fixing the problem, you would have no reason of going into the past. If you didn't go to the past, you never solved the problem. Therefore, you still have a problem to fix. ALWAYS. The cycle would continue forever. Because no matter what you would do, you will have to end up going back to the past and endlessly try to fix a problem that just keeps existing because of the paradox that had been set in motion.
