Actually the more I look into this, the more I think this shit has, in fact, gone to her head. Of course, I assumed that media would write provocative articles to get knee-jerk reactions among other things, and that perhaps she herself was perfectly agreeable.

I looked at a document titled "media fact-check sheet", linked prominently on her website (http://physicsgirl.com/1993.pdf).). It's somewhat off-putting to me. Among other things, she sees it necessary to mention that she didn't apply for "safety schools" and that her MIT 5.00 is distinctly better than a 5.0, the latter being achievable with less than perfect grades. Because surely such facts are easily misquoted by the media. The people she mentions helping her she doesn't name, but simply calls them by their most impressive title, like "Nobel Laureate, a Nobel Laureate from MIT, a Guggenheim Medal winner, a Secretary of the Air Force".

She does cap it off with this nugget of feigned humility after several paragraphs of telling you why she is hot shit.
