I just purchased a room thermometer. It is mounted on a wooden backing.

I have noticed the thermometer never seems to go below 22 degrees celsius, even if the room feels much colder than that.

Is it possible that the wooden backing is making the thermometer inaccurate? Since the thermometer is in contact with the wood, which is going to be much warmer than the rest of the room (poor insulator).

ls it easy for you to admit you are wrong?
l know people interesting in science in a professional level and it seems always to be like a defeat for them to be wrong. What garbage is that? A human is inherently fallible and the only way to become something meaningful in science is to rinse&repeat without feeling any guilt or shame in having been wrong. Rather be satisfied to have spotted an error and being able to move forwards the wiser.

If it did work don't you think the military would have incorporated it into their Aircraft Carriers by now?
