So far, we have no evidence to lead us to believe anything is not deterministic. The possible exception is atom decay which could be random(but really it seems more likely that we just don't understand it fully). But, even counting the possibility of random events, this doesn't explain how free will could exist.

If something is neither deterministic nor random, then what is it? By what mechanism could it possibly operate?

Does free will exist? From a scientific viewpoint? No philosophy.

I'm sure you get this a lot.

But does free will truly exist? Not in terms of societal constraints. But biological constraints. Are our decisions just the result of atoms smashing together? Is that not free will?

"You, your joys and your sorrows, your memories and your ambitions, your sense of personal identity and free will, are in fact no more than the behaviour of a vast assembly of nerve cells and their associated molecules" - Francis Crick

Do we have free will? Or is it just a convincing illusion?

Hey /sci/ if we are all destined for something, then they're truly no coincidences in life, if that is the case then how can free will exist
