/sci/ doesnt have much respect for IQ tests but what about professional aptitude tests? More specifically in my case the COA "The Cambridge Profile" aptitude test. It measures Verbal, Numerical, Abstract and spatial reasoning as well as arithmetic calculation, spelling, and working quickly and accurately. I got 97th percentile in verbal and spatial reasoning and top percentile for numerical, abstract, arithmetic, spelling and working quickly and accurately.

Would it be useful to make an imaginary number (lets call it £ for now) such that <span class="math"> \frac [1}{0} [/spoiler] = £? It has other parameters like (0)(£) = 1? Obviously it's an imaginary number, and it wouldnt use the symbol of the pound, but i think it might be useful in certain functions and limits. Or is there already such a number?

Anxiety of coming out of the closet, explain it? (read thread) This is a bit of a read, but read it, you will probably learn a thing or two.

I'm 18, Male, about to go to college, and I decided I would let my parents know.

I am generally a very anxious and awkward person, so this scares me. I'm a pretty normal kid my parents will probably be very surprised when I come out. Angry, possibly. I took a few shots of vodka an hour ago to boost my confidence. I've been talking to my boyfriend and he's comforting me, telling me about the time that he came out and how his parents didn't care. His parents are alot more liberal then mine so I'm worried.

So anyway half an hour ago I went down to my parents ready to tell them. I was feeling confident at this point. I went in and they had a few glasses of wine at this stage. They were watching a romantic movie and they were snuggling. Shit, suddenly anxiety overwhelmed me. They could tell I had something to say. My father asked if something was wrong, they were still smiling though. "Nothing" I replied. I decided I would sit for a while and watch the movie with them; calm my nerves.

"I need to go to the bathroom" I said. I went out the door and started texting my boyfriend, telling him how nervous I am. He told me if they truly loved me they would accept me for what I was.

So I went in and I told them. I told them the whole lot, that I was majoring in engineering and that I planned on becoming an engineer as my life profession. My father looked at me in astonishment and told me to go to my room for a while, so they could talk.
What can I expect.
