Make your fucking minds up, someone puts forward the hypothesis that UFOs could be alien spaceships from another star system it gets laughed at as not even unlikely but straight up impossible yet mainstream scientists are scared of the consequences of firing messages at these same star systems despite this being a tacit admission that they believe other life out there may have mastered FTL. I'm not saying UFOs are aliens, I'm saying that the mainstream scientific community declaring Active SETI to be dangerous but not accepting FTL aliens as a valid possible UFO hypothesis then they are being incredibly hypocritical.

Reminds me of a time at a commuter college where I was trying to jump start a persons car, but my jumper cables couldn't reach. Classes had just let out and there were probability about 200 people walking to their cars. So I called out into the crowd if anyone had some jumper cables. To which I was hit by a huge group asking what what a jumper cable was, although many didn't wait around long enough for me to explain. In the end I got some metal coat hangers and made it all work. But I was so frustrated I did a study on what I considered basic car knowledge.

Out of 470 college students that responded that very likely drive to campus every day,
30 of them knew what a jumper cable was
7 of them said they had jumper cables
3 of them said they knew how to change a tire, all of which had jumper cables

306 identified that solution to a dead battery or flat tire was to call a tow-truck and wait for help

when I presented my finding to the campus security and safety board suggesting it might be a good idea to cover some basics given over 80% of the campus drives there. 6 of the 10 members told me it was of no safety concern because everyone had a cellphone and could just call for help.
I my rage I presented the hypothetical that the cell phone was out of battery. To which I was told by the leading member they could just use they car to charge it. I told them they were an idiot and left the matter at that having spent too much energy on something that I didn't have to do.
