Mathematics is the most exemplary sophistic practice in modern society. The correlates of formulae to real-world phenomena are not indicative of mathematics taking its place as an objective study, rather they are indicative of the failure of mathematics to accurately depict anything which becomes the subject of a dialogue involving mathematics. At its best, mathematics is intellectual masturbation within quantitative logic. At its worst, mathematics is an avenue to broadly misinterpret reality and ignore the "is" for the "ought" in accordance with a dogmatic system of inference. The very worst offenders are those who specialize in pure mathematics, being completely unconcerned with anything in life (such as living with virtue or benefitting society) other than their own intellectual masturbation.

Mathematicians, you believe that your knowledge in quantitative logic will make you wiser, better, more accurate in your arguments -- nothing could be further from the truth. I say that mathematics is naught but conjecture and sophistry.
