I've been doing some rudimentary research out of curiosity, but...

Is it true current mainstream fuel sources are estimated to be depleted within half a century? Things like oil, coal, and the like? This is accounting for the fact if current demand continues to grow with population increases.

And looking at some other figures and graphics, other materials range anywhere from 15 years to another 60 years of production. Is this all true? How is the Earth going to sustain the lifestyle humans have now if resources are going to run out within the century?

And this is how much resources we have left. Some things will last a long time, others not so much.

how about the earth running out of resources?

The world is already way over the sustainable population (pic related).

Fun fact: The world population was only 1 billion in 1950. We've added nearly 6 billion people in the last 60 years. We're actually already feeling the effects of overpopulation although right now its mostly just limited to Africa and Southeast Asia.

I'm not the anon you're responding to, but;

It's no more complicated than getting to the moon. With the exception that it can pay for itself.

You send down packets that are prepared in orbit. Wrap the rarer, more delicate stuff in iron, which is abundant in asteroids, and fling it at the Sahara, or Siberia, or the Yukon. A lot will burn up, sure, but even one asteroid will hold a significant percentage of all the rare elements available to mine on Earth.

And you forget that this is pressing. We are running out of many elements we need to maintain a high tech society. When we have no easily available lithium left on Earth, and recycling won't cut it because we need more units, then asteroids are the only game in town.

Is there any way for mankind that we can somehow overcome the obstacle of dwindling resources?
Any theories on materia converters or 100% recycling or something?

I'm not an extremely scientifically literate person, but I know my way around basic physics and chemistry.
I figure you guys might know more, so enlighten me.

Why don't we build underwater mines for more of these metals ,we already do this with oil and near 75% of the earth's surface is covered in water so we are potentially ignoring nearly 75% of the earth's mineral resources because they are hidden behind some water

I forgot to add, there's also this.

It's entirely possible that sentient races like our own exhaust all usable resources before they reach the interstellar phase and thus their civilizations fizzle out fairly quickly.

Obviously we are not going to find Oil wells on lifeless rocks. but other resources are more precious such as metals , metals we would need to build electronics, solar cells buildings for our increasing population.

If we don't expand out towards space or civilization will crumble
