>Avatar A involves a person controlling a robotic human replica through a brain-machine interface (BMI), a technology that already exists. (By 2020)

This is a bit of a lie. The truth of it is that DARPA is currently working on a BMI as well, but no decent BMI currently exists. Now, within seven years I think we can all agree that such a thing is more than possible.

This next part is more interesting:

>The Avatar B, due in 2025, would involve transplanting a(n organic) human brain into an artificial body.

This, I think, is very possible, but not quite by the deadline he sets. First off, we know with an almost absolte certainity that a good BMI will be created by 2025, which is the first necessary step for "Avatar B", but what is also necessary is both 1. a synthetic body that functions at least as well as an orgnaic human body does and 2. a decent life support system that functions like the heart and lungs do today.

Well, as for the first point, we are already making some progress in that direction. Take a look at these 3 vids:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPxRrgyN0OI

And attach them to this body:

Now you officially have a crude body for the brain to be transplanted into today. Now, I'm not claiming it's perfect, and honestly there are still a LOT of problems with it, but this is just to prove a point that we can nearly do this today.

As for the second point, well, look at these:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYjDuNJsa0E

Again, they're very crude, but they are still examples of how close we are to doing this today.
