There are counties in America where 30% of kids are illiterate too. But then that only occurs in those areas and nowhere else.

The kids who end up in good state schools or Ivy League schools in anything STEM most likely had tutors or went to private school and got much further ahead. Had to learn that the hard way I figured everyone in my engineering program was just a normal HS grad like me. But like they had all gone through many tutors and were way ahead of me in math took me like a year to catch up before I felt like I could rest a bit.

Anyone have the tier list of the different math fields/subjects (like the image I posted but instead of majors its ranks Complex Analysis, Topology, Mat. Logic etc.) saved? I never saved it, but I remembered seeing it around here some time ago and I wanted to see where Differential Geometry fell on it so I can feel like my irresponsible life decisions have been validated (or shit on) by the autists of /sci/

Do you all really think the total illiteracy of the general American populace when comes to history and philosophy is a good thing?

STEM subjects, especially IT, is just a saturated with leftism.

Also to get this out of the way, history and humanities is an inherently niche subject and America’s college debt crisis in NOT from millions of students taking out loans to get gender studies degrees. It’s from an excess of normies getting STEM and business degrees.

after 5 years of doing geophysics, I'm coming to the conclusion that there might not be a future in this field. I want to switch to computer science since it should complement my major nicely because we do a lot of coding in geophysics already (mostly matlab/R).

is comp science hard? I've done an intro comp science course already and know extremely basic programming creating Matlab scripts.

would I get a job easy? is it worth to do another 3 years? should I just graduate with my geophysics degree and hope I get a job? my gpa currently is kinda shit (3.1) but I have 2 minors under my belt along with some extra curricular bull from doing some stuff with my academic centre thing. I also got on academic probation that I think is on my record cause I got caught sharing Matlab scripts.

How are you guys holding up?

I go to a top tier uni for EE, but honestly it feels like I'm fucked anyway. My GPA is pretty sketchy. I think getting experience through a co op might be my only hope.

I'm in engineering because I was tired of working with incompetent coworkers who got there by having friends in management. Retarded people can bullshit many jobs, but engineering is tough to fake. Those types tend to get into management where they are constantly a nervous wreck due to the fact of how easily replaceable they are.
