Why do you want to join Mensa? Just for the prestige? Let me tell you a little greentext story

>study at a university in Europe, participate in "structured IQ test" from the psychology dept at my university, find out my IQ is 130
>friend of mine is actually a member of Mensa
>tells me: Hey, anon, would you like to join? We're having a meeting at a downtown restaurant next wednesday night, why don't you come and check it out
>I go there - there's about 25 people
>try to be nice, try to make sciency small talk
>Mensa members mostly not interested
>I'd say about 40% of them have ENORMOUS egos and like to hear themselves talk

I thought we'd be holding interesting and fascinating conversations about science, the universe, technology etc. We did not. I didn't see any point in joining and paying membership fees for that after that night.
