One cannot be a cumbrain and a polymath. The proliferation of pornography and hypersexualization of the individual and society at large prevents one from attaining greatness and makes all learning ultimately just another tool to get laid. As such, the passions control their sense of reason, and learning is superficial to get from A to B. They're just animals because they surrendered to the base instincts.
