Does anyone ever distinguish between morals and ethics? I think of morals as subjective demands ("This is the way I/we want it") as opposed to ethics where I guess I think more of the Kantian cathegorical imperative (That I interpret as what's "best for everyone").

I try not to be a dick about it. In fact I never mention it. If someone talks about God in front of me, I simply do suspense of disbelief and play along as if I'm in a universe where God does exist, and is a utter prick to ignore his creations as he does, and he is ambivalent. This works very well and the conversations lead to nice places.

I can understand where Richard Dawkins comes from. He is upset at what religion has done to people. I read all his books and I generally enjoy them. The majority of his work has to do with evolution and not religion however.

Regardless, if people act like dicks to other people. Kneejerk reactions will happen. Not everyone is mature enough to calmly assert themselves in a conversation, or willing to admit they were wrong in a positive way. Specially on that last one. I am dumbfounded at peoples reactions to being wrong sometimes. Acting like 3 year old children throwing a temper tantrum.

So I have resorted to treating them as such. Most people are not capable of learning anything meaningful.
