I think many of us look up to people like Euler, Gauss, Cauchy... you know, the best mathematicians regarding contributions to math. How much time did they dedicate to their work?. Is such a thing possible in this day and age, or was their brilliant minds the main factor for their success? Many of us want to contribute to math and physics, but what is there for us average men?

I'm sorry, the sound of pervasive reverence and veneration of my genius is making your little mathematical inanity inaudible.

The remarkable thing about math is that there is, in a sense, very little to learn. It's not about memorizing long sets of formulas or techniques. Everything you need to know can usually be written on a single piece of paper.

Instead, it's about absorbing the underlying rigor that makes math work. If you're comfortable with algebra, you've already learned the single most important thing in all of mathematics: what a variable is, and how to manipulate equations to solve for particular variables. That's the core of what math really "is", and the rest is elaboration.

"Mathematicians have tried in vain to this day to discover some order in the sequence of prime numbers, and we have reason to believe that it is a mystery into which the human mind will never penetrate." Leonhard Euler

So what exactly is Analysis? I thought it had to do with making sure limits existed and stuff, but my program requires four fucking courses on it. Why would there be four course on something so trivial?

Pic related, the fucker who invented analysis.

How can you believe in graph theory if it is only a theory (Euler)
