If they don't give a shit about the class, they won't give a shit about what you the individual have to say. You have to use the crowd. Ask the buddy next to you to back you up and others will follow.

Don't be too confrontational in your remarks. Otherwise, it will just be shit flinging curse fest where he tells YOU to shut the fuck up. Then the professor has to step in saying "now now common guys" taking more time away from the professor and nothing gets resolved.

You can't be nice about it either, it must be a sharp stinging comment. Such as "Do you mind? REST of us are trying to learn something here" works well.

Of course this only works if the offending student isn't full retard. If the student is as bad as OP describes, talking back, disrespecting, laughing. Talk to the professor with a couple of friend of yours and talk to the professor and help the him get the asshole removed from the class.

These things sometimes happen since professors tend to be beta nerds who studied hard. I know about this shit. Also, that feel when you are that professor ;_;

I have a problem. I'm living with my dad while working full time and going to school. I've been working 5/12's the last two weeks so I've had very little time to study. My dad this morning asked me to do chores around the house cause he has friends coming over. I was really pissed because he woke me up at 8am and demanded that I do them. I'm tired of this bullshit. He should at least let me know the day before that he needs me to clean the house and shit. He expects me to get up early in the morning after a 14 hour work day and wants me to start cleaning the house at the drop of dime. Fuck that shit. I need my own time to study and relax. He doesn't understand that. But I don't know what to do. If I move out that means less money in my pocket which means less money I have for school. Shit he won't even help with that. All the people i work with are more than willing to pay for there kids school but my dad who earns way more money then them as an engineer won't even give me a penny. Anyways have any of you lived on your own while working full time and going to school?

This was on my Organic Chemistry exam today and it's been bugging me for hours.

I had to retrosynthetically create 2-heptanol, the original substance had to be an alcohol with less than 4 carbons

I did CH3-CH2-OH (PCC) -> CH3CHO (CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2:MgBr) -> 2-heptanol

My question is, is there anyway to do this without the use of a Grignard reagent or is that the only valid mechanism?
