The same reason why most men in STEM are unattractive, they become social outcasts in school because of their looks and thus spend more time studying and as a result of not hanging out with friends/partying and are more likely to enter science and math.

Why are people always so disinterested in this topic when its the exact difference between first and 3rd world. This is the most important feature we have and anyone who actually bothers to think he will realize that improving his intelligence is the most important task as it helps him become the best thinker he can be. Its like a competing athlete refusing to abuse all the advantages he has like proper nutrition and better workouts, form etc. Its insane... It seems like most people just become completely silent when they hear that topic.

From an outsiders perspective, there's not real distinction between a time machine and a teleportation device.
