Isn't that pretty normal? Just enjoy the adrenaline of the first drink or two and then you won't even feel your chest once you're actually drunk and you can chill, and you don't have to deal with the racing heart again until you wake up at 5am on what feels like a kayak in the open ocean. Don't worry, you'll get used to it.

Exactly. Sounds to me like I'm somewhat on my own here then, which is both exciting and concerning. I'll need to ramp up the detective work and ask around with some of my local ML/bio people. Thanks for the responses anon!
