>mfw undergrads

stop acting smart, undergrads. you guys are all basically retarded compared to actual adults. sooner or laterif i keep hearing undergrads chatting about "AdS/CFT" or "quantum computers" i will snap and do something. i donno what, basically i can't do anything, but something nonetheless

i think that studying science is a very effective way of training yourself to use critical thinking and to judge true things from false things from uncertain things from nonsense things. after a while your natural instincts in doing those things gets better and better and you start to build confidence in your own abilities to be an authority on truth and falsehoods.

you'll start noticing this in undergrad. if you have groups of friends where only one or a few of them are science majors, after probably sophomore year you can notice that when controversial ideas are brought up, arts majors and to a lesser extent humanities majors get emotional about debating things, whereas social scientists and to a greater extent hard scientists are emotionally disconnected from matter-of-fact topics, and they carry more weight in terms of the others listening to them on matters of fact that they are coolly confident in. they are often more skeptical than the others, though, which makes them seem more "mean" or "judgemental" at times, pic related
