What he did was inspiring thousands of scientists all over the world. And the reason he's more optimistic is those scientists began the revolution in medicine we're experiencing today. His own lab works on things nobody else wants to look into, so his achievement is not about coming up with some treatments (at least yet) but the movement he began (he and some other guys) brought us here among other things:
