James Maynard isn't considered to be the best British mathematician of the last 30 years and he made major breakthroughs in number theory.

Also, Neumann is considered to be the "father" of graph theory applied to physics. But 50% of the theorems were proved by Maynard's co laureat Dumesnil-Copin .

Pretty much a useless genius. Just good enough to implement 1D Monte-Carlo methods.

I assume it's better to have little background, initiation to maths before going for the Principles and the Real and Complex. However, those books are really really good. But you clearly can't read them quickly, you'll need to read each chapter 10 times but it is perfectly rigorous and understandable.
