Anyone know some good books or videos on stocks?

I know the basic facts of stocks and options and how they work, but I'd like a more mathematical/in-depth understanding.

Also, why the fuck was today such a good day for markets?

Are there any equity/stock traders here?

I landed an entry level trading position and the process to start working seems a bit unfamiliar to me and I want to see if there's anything sketchy about it.

Basically I make a deposit of around $350, start training and also studying for an exam. Once I pass the exam, the money goes towards the fees for it, and the rest goes into a trading account.

I'm not familiar with this process or it's legitimacy. It's not a fake business or anything, I went into the office downtown. Very nice, technical, met the team and everything.

Any advice appreciated.

Stocks anyone here take part?
I am really interesting in starting to invest in cheap stocks and maybe try to make a living off of it eventually.
But was wondering the real odds.. or how to even get started.

I'm not sure if this is the right board to put this in but I figure it's best for the subject matter.

Is there a way to make a living by investing in stocks and playing the stock market and if so, how does one go about doing it?
I've not taken the time to really study stocks much but am interested in doing so if it's something that is even worthwhile at all.

I don't know anyone personally who invests in the stock market or any specific companies but I'm sure there are those out there who can make a living for themselves by doing so. Any help with getting more into this?

Gentlemen, I have a doubt. A huge one. Any economists here are very welcome.
There is this stock value that took a nosedive quite recently. It belongs to one of the biggest food companies in my country, and it's itching me to buy the hell out of some stocks.
However, this behavior has not appeared in last 3 years - it has steadily climbed. The news don't report anything that would be a sign of alert (to me) about the company, except a noticeable investment in the foreign market.
I'm not afraid to drop -some- money into it. However, if this is an actual opportunity to invest, I'm willing to spend big on it.

Want background context? It's Grupo Bimbo (BIMBOA.MX). Now that you know, I'd like your insight on it. Is it bad to invest on it? Am I missing something?
Hell, if it's fine to invest, you just got a free hint.

Since there is no financial board i thought this would be the closes board to it ask this question: I got an economics project where i need to invest $100,000 (theoretical of course) in 5 different stocks no more than $25,000 each for a term of two months, and i really want to beat my eco teacher. So my question is what does /sci/ think i should start to look? I was thinking something like intel because it looks down and cheap and I think it will go up soon. So really Im looking for suggestions, it can be even a product that you think a lot of people use or something like that I could invest in, but it needs to be a short term investment since, as stated, I only have two months,
