Yes, eventually normal humans will become obsolete, and no longer the top dog in control of everything

No, that doesn't mean we'll be instantly wiped out. Were single celled organisms wiped out as soon as the first multicellular organism evolved? Were all less intelligent animals wiped out as soon as humans became intelligent? We'll just be left behind here on Earth while our artificial descendants go off to the bigger universe, leaving our planet as basically one giant nature preserve.
