Heat is a type of energy. Heat is transferred from the sun, to the earth. heat isn't the energy of moving particals, heat is the energy that moves particals. if heat was not radiation, heat would not radiate. if the area of space you're in has more heat energy than your ship then the higher energy of that heat will transfer into your ship even if it's only slowly due to radiation.

this is why a spaceship can use nuclear power. they are using the vaccum of space because it's cooler and if it wasn't cooler then heat would radiate inwards

So NASA has had the technology to send people to Mars since 1980, but because no president has ordered a Mars mission, no dice.
