Anyone been to one.
What happens there?
What the fuck are you supposed to do there?

I'm interested in learning quantum physics, and I'm planning on doing something with it while in college. But it is really early in my college career, and I'm still stuck in the more basic physics and math classes, and I won't even get a taste of modern physics until the spring semester of next year. So, I was thinking of reading some books on the subject and try to learn as much as possible and maybe even decide whether I want to continue with that field of physics before I waste time in college on it.

With that, I'm a complete noob when it comes to quantum physics. I know some of the topics, and I stay as up-to-date with it as the next guy, but I would very much consider myself a beginner on the subject. I was thinking about starting off with a "For Dummies" book and quickly read through that, and then move on to a real beginner's book on the subject.

What would you guys recommend? And I don't know how much math is going to be needed to at least understand some of the concepts, but I would hope to be able to learn it as needed and as it comes along. And perhaps it is a little bit too broad to say "I want to learn quantum physics," and I'll want to focus on a specific subject. If this is the case, what would be some specific subjects I should focus on at first?

What really blows my mind is that a few decades ago we had, Von Neumann, Alan Turin, Alonzo Church, Paul Dirac, Feynman and all the people in this picture alive and working at more or less the same time.

That is kind of a mini golden area for science and technology.

What's the best way to teach myself quantum mechanics?

They're worth a closer look.

Define "intellect" in the most poetic way possible.

OP I actually love your idea and must tell you that you now have an official opponent as your idea of "becoming infamous for being the first human to destroy a planet" is fucking awesome.
I try to accomplish this goal before you do and as I am a student of Physics I think I'll be the winner.
Sorry to say that bro, but seems like you just lost (the game).

Max Plank. So theorethical, he has only done a single experiment in his life, and even that was for his PhD.

2nd, bottom row.
