Serious Thread summer kids get out please.

How much time do we realistically got? It's known we have passed the point of no return.

What is the latest research on potential solutions?

What's the best case scenario?
What's the worst case scenario?

Is it even worth moving to extreme south/north?

Ok, so... Global warming.

Changes in climate really do occur, but are the reasons for it really as global warming theory says?
Because to me 99.999% of the shit said for Global warming seems so stupid that it can not possibly be true. Can it?

So my question is: Is this just an unproven, fallacious theory or is it actually true?

>Climate change is caused by greenhouse gasses
>ozone is a greenhouse gas
>CFCs destroy ozone

Obviously the phasing out of CFCs by the Montreal Protocol is part of a conspiracy by liberals to increase their power by attacking businesses in order to trick the American populace into believing that the republicans are trying to destroy the world in the name of profit.

>Be looking at weather history for my city
>No indication of global warming

There is slight indication of an imminent ice age in the 70's though.

What about your city?

So I have had this question for about 1 week now and I can't seem to shake it off my head. What I am talking about is global warming if you believe it, or not good for you but please do not flame this thread.

They say the atmosphere is getting thicker with the more carbon dioxide that we produce each year. Now think about it if they atmosphere is getting thicker and it is getting harder for the heat to get out then how is it getting in?

I'm not sure about this all global warming is a touchy subject but I would like to know your guys reasoning behind it being bullshit or your explanation for my above question.

I'm not big on politics, but I don't understand the global warming debate at all /sci/.

Most scientists believe it's real, some believe it isn't.

Let's say it's real - then we know we need to stop it ASAP.

Let's say it isn't - why not move to sustainable/renewable energy anyways? Why not force the companies to find ways to reduce emissions? Why not drive electric cars?

And before you say "but it costs us": 90% of the stuff you buy you don't need, and 70% - like junk food, cigars and alcohol, is even harmful to you. Spending money on a sustainable industry is certainly a much better investment.

Moreover, if it wasn't real, a probability remains that the emissions we cause could harm the planet - so it becomes even economical to reduce emissions.

And lastly, acid rain, fine dust, and the like are real. Clearly they are harmful, clearly we would do good getting rid of them.

The whole planet would at best benefit from green politics, and at worst there would be no harmful consequences. The only ones who bear the cost would be compnies anyway - and they have more than enough money.

guys I've been thinking about global warming, here's my proposals:

1. We need to gather all of the world's scientists into one place and send half of them to Canada and the other half to Russia, then they can study how the Canadian and Russian peoples manage to keep things so cold.

2. We need to stop doing things that are warm. For example, everyone should stop having sex and doing sexual things because it makes us warm. No pornography or prostitution. Also, no socks because they are warm. In fact, no clothes in general, or at least no clothes that are warming. Also, no streetlights. You think it's just a coincidence that the world suffers from a global warming crisis right as streetlights are put up everywhere? They make the night artificially warm.

3. Nuke Africa. I know this sounds harsh, but we are a global community now and we need to make sacrifices for each other. Africa is the hottest continent, so they are the most responsible for global warming. We can get two of each animal, male and female - Giraffe, Rhino, Zebra, Lion, African - all of the local wildlife, put them on a boat, and send them to New Zealand. Then we nuke Africa into the ocean. We can't trust Africans to change their hot lifestyles quickly enough to prevent a global meltdown.

4. Convert everything into electricity. Electricity is cold. Brilliant innovators and entrepreneurs have already invented the electric car in order to save humanity, now we just need to make everything else electric too.

5. Polar bears and penguins. Wherever we find polar bears and penguins we find that their environment is cold. They must know something that we don't. We need to dissect them and find what in their DNA makes everything around them so cold.

6. Stop all walking, cycling, and athletics. These make our bodies warm, thus radiating heat into the world. Instead, we should all move around on those little electric scooters that obese Americans use.

Don't panic just yet. There is still hope.

>muh consensus
You're just low character and a non-scientist who wants to go with the heard fro fear of being isolated and/or wrong.
