Do any of you participate in this? I went through a lot several years ago, but it's always fun to get back into. Basically it's math problems (leaning towards number theory), that you typically want to solve on a computer. A mathlet with only basic programming experience could probably bruteforce their way through the first 50 problems or so, but eventually you'll need some theory to get by.

>What is Project Euler?
>Project Euler is a series of challenging mathematical/computer programming problems that will require more than just mathematical insights to solve. Although mathematics will help you arrive at elegant and efficient methods, the use of a computer and programming skills will be required to solve most problems.

>The motivation for starting Project Euler, and its continuation, is to provide a platform for the inquiring mind to delve into unfamiliar areas and learn new concepts in a fun and recreational context.

What does sci think about this website? I'd like to think most of you could solve the first 50+ easily.

Is doing Project Euler a worthwhile intellectual pursuit?

having programming ability but a weak background in maths, I chose to start doing these problems in my spare time out of curiosity

I've been stuck on a particular problem for a few days, not that I haven't been before but now I find myself wondering if there's any point continuing when I could be making android apps or doing something more productive with my time.

Advice? not looking for help on problems

Anyone else on here a big projecteuler fan? I just finished my 150th problem. How many have you finished and what language did you use?

Had some old highschool friends over to play board games yesterday when one of them introduced me to Project Euler. Some of you might have heard of it already, but I thought it was cool, so I just wanted to give it a quick plug while I was here.

I've managed to solve the first four problems, but in the effort of going a bit beyond, I made my programs to solve more generalized forms of each of the problems.

I'm looking forward to solving problem 22 when I get to it.
