Half that stuff can be backed up with at least some evidence.

For example PLR which is easy to do, the past lives are statistically distributed geographically, and by class and gender as you would expect. Mysterious medical and psychological conditions have healed with it, and people have come back with information they could not possibly have.

It is therefore reasonable to assume they had past lives. If ten thousand people visit a place and give consistent account of that place, a reasonable person would assume the place mentioned is real.

There is strong evidence to suggest that 'padding' your reality with strong emotional stimulation such as blind optimism to over-zealousness does affect you. There is also a correlation between these emotional states and the drive behind staying alive, both from historical points of view (Roman soldiers believing in Mars glory and protection/Vikings believing in earning a place in Valhalla) and contemporary situations (Various religious tests of faith e.g strychnine or venom/Extreme survival situations).

There is definitely something to be said for mental fortitude, but even for those who don't have the discipline to train their prefrontal cortex they can instead adopt either of these strong emotional stimuli to be used in a similar but unpredictable fashion, the trick though isn't to be aware of it or count on it rationally, when it comes to this 'padding' it has to be involuntary and fervent. The main problem with this is that it doesn't come from a place of reason and to be a rational person who wants to use the practicality of these methods requires losing yourself, if possible at that point since it seems a certain level of ignorance is required to adopt this 'padding' of reality.
