- casting doubt on the quality of software
unfortunately the history of bullying on this subject goes all the way back to the "Open Letter to Hobbyists"
Bill Gates seems to imply that spending $40,000 in 1976 means the source code for Altair BASIC should remain a secret to academic inquiry for all time.
For this reason alone, to shoot the elephant that is Microsoft, we should demand the source code for all software and suggest Soviet subversion is at work if there is any resistance.
