we are already living through a mass extinction event caused by our collective activity on the earth. Carbon Dioxide causes the earth to get hotter because its more effective at absorbing heat from the sun. That wouldnt be a huge deal normally because plants would just absorb it. Unfortunately we are cutting down every forest on earth at rates which will leave no major forest on earth within a few hundred years. So yeah, we fucked ourselves. If we killed off the dumbest 95% of humans on earth, and brought online AI machines for manufacturing and all other labor, then we might see stabilization in 2 to 3 thousand years.

but you know, capitalism. So no, it wont happen, not unless it magically becomes more profitable in the short term to do things differently then everything will keep on the same way as they are.
