Yeah... Society will make a quantum computer before knowing how to build one... you are a really clever one.
What you are talking about are almost always discoveries by coincidence. Those coincidences are just and with further understanding of the topic at hand they can be reiterated and refined.
Of course we don't need to be a physicist, computer scientist and chemist to use a computer.
Building one from scratch requires a lot of knowledge tho and that doesn't come frome coincidence.
