Absolutely no experience with programming or any computer science.

Is it a shitty idea to try and learn Python and C++ simultaneously?

has anyone failed a class? i've completely blown off a materials science course this semester after failing to pick up the slack for the shitty lectures and garbage textbook and i might actually fail a class (or at least not get credit for my major, and then what's the fucking point?). final is on thursday and i've zero motivation to study when i've been lost for half the semester

Where do I start with representation theory of finite groups?

What kind of background do I need? The end goal is to learn about representations of Galois groups, which are typically finite, so I figured I'd start here first. Any good recommendations of books for undergraduates?

What's an area of mathematical research I can try to contribute to without feeling like a waste of space?

I've been interested in number theory, but I feel it's better as a hobby rather than full focus. What are some modern areas of mathematics needing some research which could help benefits society/scientists?

>>4496175 One use for the new gif would be on a production line for medicine or something. The star shape could be attached to a wheel that is holding small amounts of powder that get taken by another little device to be pressed into pills or some shit. It would rotate and pause at a specific rate allowing you to synch it with the other machines.

Lol, no.

So we all seem to agree that for the most part their "demands" are ludicrous.

So I'd just like to ask /sci/ ,if you were to participate in such a thing what demands would you make?
